Formerly based in Münich, Germany, Ingo Maurer was one of the most exciting lighting designers until his death on 21 October 2019 aged 87. 'Wo bist du, Edison?', 'Birds, Birds, Birds', 'Blame Sid', long before one had ever even experienced the magic and fun of Ingo Maurer's lights, the names demanded attention. Maurer's designs are layered in meaning and rich in detail and his work has international appeal, with exhibitions, installations and commissions have always played a large big part of his studio's work. Maurer has collaborated with Issey Miyake, Fernando and Humberto Campana and Unicef amongst others, and his work is regularly shown in galleries and museums around the world.
